 WELCOME OCTOBER!

Hello everyone! Fall is finally here, and we're thrilled to announce that the Children's Room is all set to kick off our fall program season! We'll be starting on Monday, September 29th, and wrapping up on Tuesday, December 16th.

This season brings our beloved story times and a bunch of fun crafts to celebrate all the wonderful fall holidays. Kids will also get to enjoy some fantastic special shows, like an interactive jazz performance and a Thanksgiving event that will whisk us back to the days of the pilgrims.

On Halloween, we'll be diving into the spooky legend of the Headless Horseman-he's coming back to visit us this year! And we're excited to welcome Mrs. Claus, who will be sharing some magical stories from the North Pole.

We can't forget about the very first inhabitants of this beautiful land, and we'll honor indigenous people with a variety of activities throughout the season.

Plus, we'll be gearing up to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country next year!

In October, we'll continue with our activities at the Allwood Branch only.

Here is the October calendar. Can't wait to see all of you again!

Important Dates

This summer has gone by so fast! It is already August and our programs are wrapping up.

Here are some important dates for those registered
in the Summer Reading Program:

Read to Minnie

Our summer programs are in full force! One very popular program we run is to Read to a Therapy Dog. We had our beloved pup Minnie come visit us and he loved being read to by our adorable patron, Muhammed. Minnie is such a good listener, and our readers love to pick out a good book and read to him. Check out our July and August calendars to see when our next Therapy Dog program is.

Summer Reading Kick off Success!

Thank you to everyone for attending the summer reading kickoff program with Eyes of the Wild. We had a fantastic show with over 100 people in attendance. Our performers brought a fox, a chinchilla, a snake, a bird, and many other animals for everyone to enjoy. I think everyone's favorite part was when they got to pet the huge snake at the end of the program!

Now that our kickoff program has concluded, please come in to register and participate in our summer reading program. You will receive a log in which you mark off 15 minutes every day that you have read. At the end of the first week, come in for a prize ticket. Keep doing this for each week! Each prize ticket adds up so that at the end of the summer, you will have enough tickets to purchase something special from our prize shop. Happy reading!

Juneteenth

Today marks a very special occasion! On June 19th, 1865 is when the very last group of slaves found out they were free, thereby making this a holiday to celebrate! There is so much history to learn about Juneteenth and we have a wide selection of books for you to choose from. Come visit the library and check out whatever fits your reading needs! Below is a list of the books we selected just for our wonderful patrons:

Come see Parul!

The Main Library is still closed to the public as work on our HVAC continues, however if you are looking for physical copies of our July calendar, information about the library and children's room, or just to chat, come visit Parul outside our side entrance to the building. Patrons are not allowed inside but we will be happy to help you outside!
