You may have heard of famous children's author/illustrator and Caldecott Medalist, Jerry Pinkney. Just Jerry: How Drawing Shaped My Life is a wonderful, in-depth memoir about him, by the artist himself. This is a great biography for children in grades 3 and up to read, particularly if they are inspired by his work, or want to become artists themselves.
