Book Recommendation: Just Jerry

You may have heard of famous children's author/illustrator and Caldecott Medalist, Jerry Pinkney. Just Jerry: How Drawing Shaped My Life is a wonderful, in-depth memoir about him, by the artist himself. This is a great biography for children in grades 3 and up to read, particularly if they are inspired by his work, or want to become artists themselves. Click here to check its availability in the Main Library.

Pinkney passed away in 2021, but his memory lives on in the 100+ books he illustrated. Click here to see his work in other books in our catalog.

Book Recommendation: The Story Orchestra

Did you know that the Children's Room has a music collection within our nonfiction books?

On the shelves, in the 780s, we have many books about music theory, famous pieces of music, biographies of famous musicians, and more!

We even have books that play music!

The Story Orchestra: Four Seasons in One Day written by Katie Cotton and illustrated by Jessica Courtney-Tickle is a beautiful book following a girl and her dog as they adventure through the different seasons. In this book, you can interact by pressing different music icons on the pages, which will play samples from different parts of Vivaldi's violin concertos The Four Seasons.
