Library Resources: NoveList K-8

Have you ever been stumped when trying to find the next read for your child? Check out NoveList K-8, a free database you can access from the Clifton Public Library! Scroll down to "Student Support" on the Kids tab of our website and click "Visit Now" under the NoveList K-8 tab. When you enter the database, you will see many different options to browse for fiction reads for grades Kindergarten through eighth grade.

But a really fun option is to search for a book your child really loved and find Read-alikes. 

For example, why don't we look at famously-loved Diary of a Wimpy Kid?:

Not only can you easily find reading levels here, but you can also see a description of the book, suggested reading age ranges, series titles, and much more. However, a very useful function is the "Read-alikes" option.

 

On the right side, you will see covers of different books that are listed as similar to the book you selected. This makes finding similar reads a breeze! You can also expand the list of Read-alikes and see why they are listed as similar.

Library Resources: Hoopla

Get access to thousands of digital materials through Hoopla, instantly. 

Go to the Clifton Public Library’s website, cliftonpl.org and find a link to Hoopla under “Find It Here” or download the Hoopla app on your mobile device.

It’s easy to create an account.  You will be prompted to enter your library’s name, your library card number, email and chose a password.  Then you can browse digital collections of books, audiobooks, movies, music, comics and more!

Turn on ‘Hoopla Kids’ mode and only kid friendly titles will be visible.

All materials in the Hoopla library are available for immediate check out. With a Clifton Library card, you can borrow up to 15 titles a month.
