"All Together Now" Community Helper Letters

This past summer’s Reading Program theme was “All Together Now,” which encouraged a focus on kindness and community.  Hundreds of children in the Clifton community participated and many of them chose to join in the “Thank You Note” activity in their reading log.  This activity encouraged kids to pick a department of Clifton’s City Hall, learn about what that department does to help the Clifton community, and write a thank you note to the people in that department.

The library staff collected all the thank you notes and on Thursday, October 26th, children’s librarians Miss Gloria and Miss Heather visited City Hall to deliver the thank you notes.

All the City Hall employees we visited were very surprised and delighted to receive the thank you notes.  It really brightened up their day.  We watched as they poured over the letters, pointing out pictures to each other.  Many of the letters mentioned things the children remembered their department doing, everyday things they do at their job that they had no idea people would notice or remember; taking care of a sick tree, rescuing a baby racoon, handing out clean drinking water.  Many of the departments are planning on hanging up the thank you notes in their office.

We would like to say thank you to all the children who participated and did such a great job spreading joy and kindness in our community.  Please enjoy these pictures of your letters being delivered.
